Pinkie Swear
Their tiny fingers intertwined as a sign of friendship,
“Friends Forever”, they both nodded and giggled.
Every day of their lives it was them against the World,
They fought each war together,
Loved the same things and roasted the same people,
Their happiness was each other’s priority.
The heartbreaks, the depression; they saw each other through it.
They swore never to let anything or anyone come between them.
Their families became one and nothing broke it.
One day Lucifer paid them a visit,
He looked like the morning star,
He came as the knight of one’s dreams.
He came to steal and destroy
Then it happened,
To one the other became a bother,
She had found love;
To her, it was Cupid himself, rode on her dreams and made her go crazy.
The late-night calls and hanging out turned to “I am busy” or “you are too boring”
Hearts broke, for their friendship had stood everything
So what now?
Like a snail, her shell became her solace,
Her tears never drowned her enough.
To her, if her best friend forsakes her then the World had ended,
Too busy hiding stuff,
Too busy going on dates,
To her this love was fate,
To her, her friend was old nothing new to create,
The tie of Friends Forever cut and the EKG made a loud beep.
Forever was gone,
She had it all alone.
“We swore to stay friends forever and never hide anything”
“We grow up, be mature, we were only kids!”
“He is the reason, can’t you see?”
No, she couldn’t! The fog of love had made her incapable to see,
To her it was a dream come true; all the tears had become laughter.
“No! He is not, you are the reason, you are just so bitter and jealous that you can’t keep a man!”
She lost it and she lost her forever.
When it ended everything was lost,
Love at the expense of what?
“Be careful out here! Not everything that looks real is real, remember it is the World we are in, I come in different shades; I own the colour wheel” Lucifer laughed.
